What is Hypnosis and how
does it work?
Hypnotism has been described
as the science and art of inducing a totally relaxed state in
which an individual is able to accept and act upon desired emotions
It is the power of suggestion on the subconscious rather than
the conscious mind.
In 1958 The American Medical Association formally approved hypnosis
as a therapeutic tool.
The hypnotic state is something an individual accomplishes
themselves. Each person will describe it differently. It is such
a pleasant feeling that individuals are usually willing and anxious
to enter it again.
Some describe relaxation as:
- A heavy feeling
- A light feeling
- Floating
on "cloud nine"
- Many describe it as a state of complete
relaxation and peace of mind.
